Position: Long-Term Kindergarten Substitute Teacher

School: Pomfret Community School

Dates: September 24, 2026 - November 24, 2026

Schedule: Full-time, school-day schedule

Position Summary

Pomfret Community School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable long-term substitute teacher to provide classroom instruction for a Kindergarten class from September 24 through November 24, 2026. The substitute teacher will be responsible for maintaining a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment while continuing the instructional program established by the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily instruction and supervision for Kindergarten students.
• Follow established lesson plans, curriculum, and classroom routines.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
• Support students academic, social, and emotional development.
• Maintain consistent classroom expectations and routines.
• Communicate effectively with families, staff, and school administration as appropriate.
• Monitor student progress and communicate concerns to the appropriate staff members.
• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records.
• Collaborate with Kindergarten team members, specialists, and support staff.

Qualifications

• Connecticut teaching certification preferred; elementary or early childhood certification is desirable.
• Previous experience working with young children preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Salary: In accordance with the Pomfret Community School substitute teacher salary schedule.
