Wethersfield Public Schools is seeking a full time Preschool Teacher for their SmartStart preschool program. The Preschool SmartStart Teacher is responsible for curriculum, lesson planning and delivery of instruction for preschool students.

Reports To: Building Principal

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: $57,847-$114,618 (full-time annual)

Responsibilities:

Qualified candidate should have 2- 3 years' experience with the following responsibilities:

? Provide instruction in preschool program that incorporates the early childhood standards for students with/without disabilities;

? Encourage students to explore learning opportunities or persevere with challenging tasks to prepare them for later grades;

? Develop and implement strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of needs from ages 3-5;

• Collaborate effectively with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary team

? Evaluate progress and provide data driven reports to other school staff and parents;

? Maintain and update cumulative and confidential files of students in the program;

? Develop an ongoing and active program for parental participation in appropriate aspects of the program;

• Establish and maintain positive, ongoing partnerships with families and encourage meaningful parent/guardian participation in their childs educational program.
• Support students social-emotional development, positive behavior, communication, independence, and readiness for kindergarten

? Conduct appropriate follow-up activities with kindergarten and primary grade teachers concerning students who have participated in the program;

? Supervise paraeducator(s) assigned to the program.

• Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide activities that support the needs of young learners.
• Perform other duties related to the preschool program as assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications:

? Connecticut Early Childhood Certification;

Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification (masters preferred not required);

? 2 - 3 years' experience as a Preschool Teacher;

? Possess a strong understanding of the early childhood development and standards;

? Must have strong collaboration and communication skills;

? Possess strong assessment and report writing skills;

• Knowledge of early childhood development, inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and developmentally appropriate practice.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for every child and family
