# Elementary Classroom Teacher Job Description

## General Information

• Salaried Position with paid holidays and 10 paid time off (PTO) days per school year.
• Extra-curricular and summer positions available for additional income.
• Ten-month position with pay spread over 12 months.
• Schedule: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday (school days according to the calendar).

## Responsibilities and Duties

• Demonstrates knowledge of PA Academic Standards content and pedagogy.
• Assesses student needs to direct and guide instruction.
• Writes clear and appropriate instructional goals.
• Establishes high and clear expectations for student achievement.
• Creates and maintains an effective, engaging, and safe learning environment.
• Implements prescribed curricular resources with fidelity.
• Monitors and reports student progress using a variety of methods.
• Displays flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the learning needs of students.
• Demonstrates adherence to school policies and procedures and Pennsylvanias Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.
• Appropriately handles confidential information and maintains accurate records.
• Supports school events both during and outside of the school day.
• Maintains frequent, timely, and appropriate communication with students, families, faculty, and administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or designee.

The person filling this position will be evaluated according to the teacher evaluation procedures adopted by Arts Academy Elementary Charter School.

## Job Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Elementary Education required.
• Valid PA Elementary or Middle Grades Teacher Certification required.
• Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred.
• Experience teaching or working with students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

### Salary

• Bachelors Degree: $48,000
• Masters Degree: $50,000

• Professional references are required.
• The following clearances and documents will be required prior to the first day of employment to be obtained at the cost of the applicant. Failure to provide these clearances and documents within a reasonable time frame will result in withdrawal of job offer:
• Act 151 Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance.
• PA State Police Request for Criminal Records Check.
• Act 114 Federal Criminal History Record Information.
