Position: Literacy Enrichment Teacher BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)

Location: Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT

Hours: 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 1.5 hrs/week (day TBD) 1 hour onsite plus 1/2 hour off-site planning time

Job Description:

EdAdvance is seeking a certified Elementary School Teacher for our BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program at Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional, with proven experience working with elementary-aged children. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to design and lead engaging activities for students in grades K-5. Operating as the Literacy Enrichment Teacher, you will develop programming for after-school hours (3:30 pm-5:30 pm) under the direct supervision of the BASES Administrative Team.

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with the Site Coordinator and BASES Administrative Team on timelines and activities to meet grant requirements
• Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
• Understand, follow, and maintain all licensing regulations set by the state of CT Office of Early Childhood
• Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
• Implement grant-funded literacy enrichment within existing after school program
• Align state standards for literacy curriculum between district and after school program
• Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled (usually evenings)
• Assist with data collection as required by the grant
• Other duties as may be assigned
• Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position

Qualifications:

• Valid Elementary Connecticut Teacher Certification Required
• Bachelors Degree in education required, Literacy focus preferred
• Proven experience working with elementary school-aged children
• High degree of energy and enthusiasm for working in a well rounded after school program setting
• Knowledge of Child Development
• Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
