Health teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning.
Develops grade-level appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials for students. Then translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential activities, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual students needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.

Teaching/Subject Assignment Specific:
Administer and record results for the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment.
Attend training sessions for supervising high ropes courses (if applicable for program site)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Health, PK-12 (043)-cross endorsement for health is preferred but candidates without a health certification will be considered on a case by case basis.
