JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Teacher - Secondary English

Classification: 102, Certified CEA

Reports To: Building Principal

Effective Date: August 2026

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of talented employees for the 2026-27 School Year. CREC seeks talented Secondary English teachers for a teaching position at our various magnet schools. Secondary English teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for English, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

English Language Arts teaching competencies:

  • Deep understanding of CT Common Core Standards for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language.
  • Familiarity with recent research in reading and writing acquisition.
  • Ability to design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • English 7-12: 015 certification
