Job Description:
- Plan and deliver instructional activities tailored to students' individual needs and IEP goals.
- Assess academic strengths and challenges to guide instruction
- Prepare and implement IEPs, quarterly benchmarks, and progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with PPT recommendations, IEP timelines, and state/federal special education regulations.
- Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment through consistent routines and positive behavior support.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and the treatment team.
- Maintain accurate records, substitute plans, and timely reports.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and cultural awareness with all students and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.
What We're Looking For
Holds or is immediately eligible to obtain Connecticut Certification.
If not certified, eligibility for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) will be considered.
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's preferred.
Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
Strong knowledge of IEP development, compliance, and special education laws.
Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, standing, walking, bending, and other physical tasks as needed.
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids and other environmental hazards in a school-based setting
