MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH & RELIGION TEACHER (Grades 6-8)

St. Peter Catholic School, Danbury, CT

OVERVIEW

St. Peter School in Danbury is seeking a Middle School Math and Religion Teacher (6th-8th grades) starting in the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with children 12-14 years old; is kind, caring, and patient; and excited about teaching math and religion. We are looking for educators who want to work in a positive environment with dedicated colleagues who keep the interest of child at the center of what they do. Teaching certification is not required but experience working with Middle School students or upper elementary students is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES (The below description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility)

• Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and incorporates school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and be able to communicate effectively with students; be able to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks as well as motivate student learning.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, reading professional educational publications, etc.
• Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree accredited college/university in Education or related discipline to teaching assignment
• Experience teaching children
• Loves working with middle school students!

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Teaching Certification
• Certification in the teaching of Math
• Successful prior teaching experience in a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade school environment
• Practicing Catholic
