Job Description:

Norfolk Public Schools is seeking a part time (.4) elementary music teacher for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The position is 2 days a week- one day for general music classes PK-6 and one day for instrumental music, band and chorus. The music teacher will prepare and deliver music instruction that aligns with the Common Core State Standards and the National Core Arts Standards to PK-6 grade students.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver general music instruction to PK-6 grade students (4 classrooms)
• Plan and deliver vocal instruction to students in grades 3-6 who want to sing in the chorus
• Plan and deliver instrumental music instruction to students in grades 3-6 who want to play an instrument
• Differentiate instruction to support each student's creative and musical development
• Establish and maintain a positive learning environment
• Collaborate with staff members and parents to support student learning
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational and time management skills
• Prepare for winter and spring concerts and other performances
• Appreciate and utilize the community's musical resources available in Norfolk
