POSITION SUMMARY:
CREC seeks a talented PE/Health teacher for a teaching position at Museum Academy. PE/Health teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal, performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.
- Develops grade-level-appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials for students. Then translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential activities, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Develop student agency, ownership, self-advocacy, and effective communication skills with regard to learning.
- Uses technology in the service of learning and completing professional responsibilities (e.g., various learning platforms, gradebook, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office).
Teaching/Subject Assignment Specific:
- Administer and record results for the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment.
- Attend training sessions for supervising high ropes courses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
- Physical Education, PK-12 (044).
- Health, PK-12 (043)- cross-endorsement for health is preferred, but candidates without a health certification will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
