Benhaven Academy, an approved private special education school in Wallingford CT, is looking for a CT certified special education teacher. (DSAPs encouraged to apply.) Benhaven provides educational services to students with autism Benhaven School, an approved private special education school in Wallingford CT, is looking for a CT certified special education teacher. (DSAPs encouraged to apply.) Benhaven provides educational services to students with autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disabilities and a variety of other disabilities in the areas of social/emotional development, academics, ADL, communication and vocational training in both school and community settings. Our students range from ages 10 to 22. Benhaven values professional development, providing its own professional development opportunities as well as granting professional days and expenses paid to relevant conferences. We are looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic individual who is innovative, hardworking and enjoys being part of a team. Benhaven is a 12 month school program; teachers work 37.5 hours a week. Responsibilities: -Develop IEP (incl. transition planning & behavior support plans) in collaboration with team members for 5-7 students -Implement IEP -Oversee training and implementation of student programs with paraeducators. -Communicate and collaborate regularly with families regarding student progress -Organize and coordinate classroom schedules. Qualifications: -CT special education certification (DSAPs encouraged to apply) -Strong leadership and classroom management skills -Commitment to positive programming for students -Excellent team skills -Excellent oral and written communication.
