Job Title:
1.0 FTE Elementary Special Education Teacher (Early Elementary/PreK Preferred)
Start Date:
August 31, 2026
Responsibilities:
- Building a classroom culture in which students feel supported, engaged, and excited to learn
- Providing individualized instruction and support for students with diverse learning, communication, and social-emotional needs
- Motivating students to become confident, independent learners while supporting diverse academic and developmental needs
- Consultation with shared-service providers to provide direct instruction on specific learning goals
- Developing strong relationships with parents and students, creating investment in school culture, and promoting student success
- Provide individualized and small-group special education instruction for PreK and elementary students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and instructional supports
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to provide inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Promote, support, and model creative and innovative instructional practices
- Design, develop, and evaluate learning experiences using effective, contemporary instructional tools and resources aligned with NY State learning standards
- Customize and personalize instruction to address students' diverse learning profiles, developmental levels, and strengths
- Support the development of communication, self-regulation, social, and academic skills
- Continuously improve professional practice, model lifelong learning, and contribute positively to the school community
Requirements:
- Eligibility for NY State Certification in Special Education
- Early elementary and/or PreK experience preferred
- Experience working with students requiring individualized behavioral, academic, and communication supports preferred
- ABA/BCBA certification preferred
