Job Description:
Cedarhurst School is an approved private special education middle and high school, operated by the Department of Psychiatry in the medical school at Yale University. We are housed in a beautiful mansion in Hamden, CT just over the line from New Haven and across from Albertus Magnus College. We are seeking a Teacher/Advisor who is certified in comprehensive special education, or a core content area with a willingness to become certified in special education through an alternative route program and the DSAP process. All of our students have IEPs, and all come from public school districts across CT who pay their tuition. As a result, we have a very diverse community of learners, who all have social, emotional and behavioral barriers to accessing their education. We have a wonderful staff group of experienced teachers, clinicians and behavioral specialists who collaborate and support one another in what has been described as a "family like" environment. We are a national exemplar for PBIS in an alternative setting, and we provide a college preparatory curriculum along with expert and sophisticated clinical interventions.
