Position Overview
Vision Academy Charter School of Excellence is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The ideal candidate will be skilled in differentiated instruction, behavior management, and collaboration with general education teachers, families, and related service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with students IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction in small groups and one-on-one settings
- Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction using data-driven practices
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices
- Work closely with families, specialists, and school staff to support student success
- Ensure compliance with federal and Pennsylvania special education regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and IEP implementation
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and professional development
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field; Masters degree preferred
- Certification: Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Certification or ability to obtain
- Experience: Previous experience in special education is preferred but not required
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, behavioral interventions, and inclusive education practices
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Commitment: A strong commitment to educational equity and supporting students with disabilities
