    Job Description:

    Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time special education teacher for the Positive Pathways Program, which focuses on behavior supports for K-5 students.

    Job Description

    The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, follows state-mandated due process procedures and functions as the IEP Case Manager to assigned students.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete triennial evaluations for individual students using a variety of assessment methods
    • Participate as a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT)
    • Develop and implement an annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) in developing the Present Levels of Educational Performance, appropriate goals, and objectives
    • Employ various teaching strategies, methods, and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goals
    • Effectively manage the classroom and student behavior
    • Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers

    Qualifications

    • Current CT Special Education Teacher certification, or certifiability, is required (e.g., #065)
    • Experience is preferred but not required
    • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of special education
