    Job Description:

    Position: Spanish Teacher

    Location: Joel Barlow High School

    Date Available: Anticipated opening commencing with the 2026-2027 school year.

    Salary & Benefits: In accordance with the Joel Barlow Education Association's bargaining unit contract. Competitive benefits.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with the ACTFL World Language Standards
    • Instruct various levels of Spanish, including AP Spanish and ECE courses
    • Demonstrate knowledge of teaching methods, materials, and educational practices for secondary school teaching of Spanish
    • Collaborate on the development of new courses like MLL credit courses
    • Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
    • Engage in ongoing professional development

    Qualifications:

    • Appropriate CT teaching certification, Spanish 7-12 (023)
    • Strong knowledge base in the Spanish discipline and enthusiasm for teaching
    • Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
    • Strong communication skills
    • Strong understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents
    • Familiarity with or willingness to pursue ECE certification
    • Experience or interest in World Language curriculum writing and development
    • Cross certification in additional languages or MLL experience preferred
