NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency through the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program.

Qualifications: Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Soil and groundwater cleanup related activities OR BA/BS Degree in Science or Engineering Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, Adobe, Copying Machine

Duties: Assignments in this tier involve expert level performance regarding subsurface contamination that is specialized, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive work with a high degree of independent initiative and judgment in assigned areas of responsibility. Duties include providing advice or recommendations regarding policy, science, or inspections with the highest level of professional expertise. Assist the program team evaluating groundwater and other investigative reports at coal plants and/or RCRA corrective action cleanup facilities.

Design, prepare, oversee and/or review studies and/or technical documents to investigate the hazardous contaminants to the environment, determine and oversee appropriate cleanup actions, and ensure long- term effectiveness of cleanups. Design, prepare and/or review reports and other site documents to evaluate human health and environmental risk and ensure that federal and/or state requirements for sites under the jurisdiction of RCRA. Conduct site visits, analyze findings and prepare necessary documentation to verify the accuracy of technical documents.   60%

Serve as the project lead related to the clean-up program and/or act as a designated subject-matter expert related to technical complexities associated with subsurface contamination.   30%

Maintains and preserves records received and created to document official activities and actions in accordance with federal laws and regulations. EPA policies and regional policies; keeps electronic and paper documents organized and free of outdated, nonessential, and inappropriate materials. Includes updating program databases.   10%

Travel Requirements: Potentially two times per year

Overnight travel: Potentially two times per year

Rental cars: During travel

Health Safety Training: EPA field health and safety training and/or 40 hr hazwoper

Health and Safety Considerations: The EPA 24-hour field training will be completed after they are onboarded and before field work is completed. 40-hour Hazwoper will be dependant on duties and activities.

Required Safety Gear: Coveralls, gloves, hardhat, steel-toed shoes, safety goggles/glasses
