Product Test Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programming & Floor Support

A leading aerospace and defense contractor is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support advanced CNC machining operations for a mission-critical defense program in Tucson, Arizona.

This role provides hands-on manufacturing engineering support within a precision machining environment, partnering directly with machinists to improve throughput, optimize machining processes, troubleshoot production issues, and develop CNC programs supporting complex aerospace hardware.

The ideal candidate enjoys spending time on the manufacturing floor solving technical challenges, improving manufacturing efficiency, and working collaboratively with machining, quality, tooling, and engineering teams.

This is a 100% onsite opportunity supporting a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Pay Range:$84.50 – $99.00/hour

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support for CNC machining operations.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues directly on the factory floor.
• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers and live-tooling lathes.
• Improve machining efficiency, throughput, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.
• Train machinists on machining processes, tooling, and best practices.
• Develop tooling concepts, fixture designs, and machining strategies.
• Support first-piece prove-outs and process validation.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and machining work instructions.
• Utilize CAM software to generate production-ready CNC programs.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Generate tooling concepts and cycle time estimates for new products.
• Support new product introduction activities.
• Perform ROI analysis for new equipment acquisitions.
• Partner with Quality, Purchasing, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve production issues.
• Maintain a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Active Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline
• Manufacturing Engineering experience in a CNC machining environment
• CNC programming experience
• Experience supporting 3, 4, or 5-axis machining centers
• Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and machining processes
• Factory floor troubleshooting experience
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
