Description
This is a non-exempt, part-time position with the Carson City Clerk/Recorders Office, Elections/Marriage Division, not to exceed 1039 work hours in any fiscal year. Employees in this position will perform a variety of clerical duties for the Recorders Office in the Carson City Clerk/Recorders Office. Employees will perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and administration of services related to the needs of Carson City.

Education and Experience: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education; AND two years of clerical experience.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.
Reasoning ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other knowledge, skills & abilities:
Intermediate to advanced proficiency level utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, and other computer software and indexing programs; ability to operate standard office equipment, including scanners, telephones, calculators, copiers, fax machines, etc.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Under General Supervision - Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.

Supplemental Information
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part-time employees are limited to working no more than 1,039 hours in any fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Part-time employees are not eligible to receive paid leave (including pay for not working on holidays), PERS retirement, or medical/dental/vision/life insurance. Nevada does not have a state income tax. Part-time employees do not contribute to social security; however, they must contribute 7.5% of their gross pay into a FICA Alternative Plan and are also responsible for paying the 1.45% Medicare tax. Part-time employees are covered under the City's worker's compensation program.
