    Job Description

    This position is expected to have the full-time hours of Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 5pm

    Bargaining Unit: EA

    Rate of Pay: $26.42/hour + DOE

    Summary
    Serves as the primary point of contact for the community, employers and TFH employees calling Tahoe WorX Occupational Health and Wellness for a wide variety of questions and information requests. Answers calls from employers, community and departments for scheduling. Obtains authorizations for workers comp and employee health appointments as assigned.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Schedules appointments for all Occupational Health Services (OH).
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for patients scheduling in OH.
    • Establishes employer and services needed.
    • Interviews patients to effectively schedule and register.
    • Registers patients by verifying identity and interviewing patient or representative in a pleasant, professional, and timely manner according to department practices.
    • Articulates information in a manner that patients, employers and employee understands.
    • Collects, verifies and updates patient demographics, guarantor information and insurance information.
    • Scans all necessary insurance information, including insurance cards, personal identification, driver’s license, physician order, etc. into EHR.
    • Validates existing data related to prior registrations by asking patient to repeat all data and updating appropriately in the EHR.
    • Possesses knowledge of and can explain all forms, required registration information, and procedures as needed.
    • Obtains worker’s compensation accident information when applicable.
    • Calls patient employer to verify employment.
    • Obtains all insurance information from employer timely.
    • Contacts insurance company to gather claim information.
    • Enters all information into Electronic Health Record (EHR).
    • Follows established parameters to ensure procedures, treatments, tests, and appointments are scheduled with the required amount of time and with the appropriate resources.

    • Provides the patient with preparation instructions pertinent to their service.
    • Works with patients/employees to coordinate the screenings through-out the process of OH.
    • Determines and collects co-pays and estimated out-of-pocket expense as appropriate.
    • Maintains and updates knowledge regarding all types of insurance and healthcare coverage, utilizing reference materials provided.
    • Performs cashier functions for all patients who present cash, check or credit card as payment for services.
    • Requests, processes, and deposits all payments per department cash handling policy to promote stewardship of District resources.
    • Provides information to callers including directions, addresses, telephone numbers, appointment times.
    • Answers incoming phone calls routes calls appropriately.
    • Serves as key contributor to patient satisfaction initiatives by participating in process improvement activities as well as providing a high quality contact experience for the patient with every interaction.
    • Prioritizes tasks and follows work through to completion.
    • Navigates multiple computer applications and interprets financial and insurance information.
    • Performs to department productivity and accuracy expectations.
    • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
    • Complies with System policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.

    Minimum Education/Experience
    No educational requirement and 6 months to 1 year relevant experience
