Join Utah Valley University as a Parking Services Assistant and become an essential part of a team that supports campus operations and enhances the experience of students, employees, and visitors. In this customer-focused role, you will process parking authorizations, handle payments, and respond to questions with professionalism and accuracy. You'll provide vital guidance on parking policies and procedures, ensuring fair and accessible services for the campus community.
 
This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in administrative systems, data entry, and payment processing while building strong communication and problem-solving skills. Hours: Monday - Friday from 11:45 am - 5:00 pm
 
Summary of Responsibilities
 
• Processes requests for parking authorization.
• Receives payments for parking violations and permit purchases.
• Advises and informs students, parents, employees, and the community regarding parking information.
• Enters data into the parking operating system.
• Researches problems with violations and performs payment research and verification of parking eligibility.
• Other job related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
 
Standard high school diploma or GED equivalent plus one year related experience or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling one year.Preferred Qualifications:An associate's degree plus one to three years experience is preferred. Ability to communicate over public two-way radio is also preferred.
 
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
 
Knowledge
 
• Knowledge of cashiering concepts and proper money-handling procedures.
• Knowledge in customer service techniques and how to resolve complex issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of how to professionally work with sometimes hostile customers, both in person and via phone.
• Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and basic data entry procedures is required.
 
Skills
• Skills in office methods and techniques.
• Skills in using computer applications and performing data entry that is accurate and free of mistakes.
• Skills with office machines such as fax, copiers, and cash registers.
• Skills with processing credit card and cash payments via cash drawer.
• Skills in public relations and communicating effectively with customers.
 
Abilities
• Ability to perform tasks with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to accurately reconcile a cash drawer properly, accounting for all transactions accurately.
• Ability to advise students and other community members in a clear and professional manner.
• Ability to resolve conflicts is important - must be able to work
with sometimes aggressive customers in a professional, calm, manner.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
