Clerk / Customer Service

Worknet Staffing has an immediate need for a clerk here in Lafayette. M-F 40hr week. Shift can fluctuate start and end times during a work week depending on need. Shifts are 8-5 and 10-7. Must be ok with floating between locations. The main duty of this position is to collect and post payments for utilities, telecommunications, property taxes, security deposits, returned checks, meter installations, and other services.  This can be by mail, in person, or at the drive through window. 

Ideal candidate will have experience transacting money in a fast-paced environment. 

Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Greets customer and assess their needs. 
• Verifies the correct information is included on the payment. 
• Searches data base for missing information. i.e. account and invoice numbers. 
• Explains delinquent charges and calculates bill totals. 
• Sends field orders for meter or telecommunication re-connects and disconnects. 
• Counts and balances out cash and checks at the end of the shift. 
• Provides receipts with all forms of payment. 

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Ability to use computer technology to perform basic math and bookkeeping functions
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with customers and employees.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of utility services, telecommunication services, rates, billing methods, and office procedures for connecting and disconnecting services. 
• Ability to analyze, figure and interpret utility, telecommunication, and property tax bills as well as explain to the customer. 
• Ability to accurately collect and distribute currency with 100% accuracy. 

Desirable Training and Experience:

• Completion of high school
• Experienced as a cashier
