Job Description

The PreK Clerk provides clerical assistance to On-Track PreK Campus staff. Performs general clerical duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Serves as a program receptionist.

Distributes daily mail.

Maintains departmental supplies. Makes requests to PreK Coordinator/On Site Instructional Specialist as needed for replacement items.

Maintains documentation on employee absences and tardiness. Acts as a liaison with substitutes coming to work in the program.

Acts as a liaison with district departments at the direction of the PreK Site Instructional Specialist.

Maintains program databases for student attendance, assessment, inventory, etc.

Assists staff in developing and copying materials.

Maintains student health cards.

Contacts parents as requested by program staff.

Enters approved purchase requisitions to generate purchase orders.

Prepares invoices, etc. for payment and submits to PreK Coordinator/Federal Programs staff for processing.

Receives and distributes materials.

Uses time effectively; is punctual and dependable in attendance.

Establishes and maintains a congenial and cooperative working relationship with all staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Supplemental Information

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Proficient in written and oral English.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
