Job TitleClerk II Counselor - Dulles MS (260001C6)Job OverviewThe Clerk II Counselor will provide administrative secretarial support to Professional School Counselors. Incumbent will relieve counselors of routine clerical tasks and establish a professional, friendly and helpful atmosphere in the counseling office.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as receptionist and receive visitors; manage walk-ins and counselor appointments using positive customer service techniquesProvide clerical support to counselors to relieve them of routine administrative tasks associated with the office (i.e. special programs, mail outs, etc)Ensure a smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the counseling suiteManage and maintain counseling visit logsRequest/send transcripts and student records via TREX, fax, or mailEstablish, organize and maintain cumulative student folder and test recordsPrepare student folders/records for 5th grade and 8th grade transitionsSupervise student office helpersManage budget expenditure tasks and order office supplies and equipmentProcess public information records requests and prepare documentation and records requests for probation officers, court administrators and current or former studentsCross-train in duties of Data Entry Clerk in order to cover in case of absence or to help in peak registration periodsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsHigh School diploma or GEDGeneral office/clerical/secretarial experienceExcellent human relation skills with the ability to professionally interact with a diverse publicAbility to communicate in a positive and effective manner and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive student informationPhysical Requirements / Working ConditionsThe work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
