JOB DESCRIPTION

The Clerk IV is a working supervisor who assists in managing the Board's Claims Management Unit. The position acts as a resource to both Board employees and the workers' compensation insurance community including insurance adjusters, auditors, advocates and attorneys.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Clerk IV functions under the direction of a Business Manager I and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the unit including supervision, maintaining data standards and ensuring accuracy of regulatory filings. Representative tasks include updating staff on policies affecting the unit, addressing issues and answering questions, processing regulatory filings, collaboration with other internal units and training, evaluation and coaching. The Clerk IV will develop a working knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Board rules, processes and forms and become familiar requests from the Social Security Administration.

  • Ability to understand and promote management goals as they affect day-to-day and long-term operations.

  • Ability to create and use varied correspondence formats and compose standard business correspondence.
  • Ability to verify, code, compute, and/or reconcile data on standard documents.
  • Ability to review input/output of information from electronic information systems and develop/implement quality control standards for data input structures and output quality assurance.
  • Ability to use applicable computer programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Six (6) years of responsible clerical experience to include two (2) years performing supervision or performing highly independent clerical work. Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of the Maine Workers' Compensation System.
