Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Clerk to support the Food & Nutrition Services and Environmental Services (EVS) departments. This position performs scheduling, clerical, recordkeeping, statistical, and telephone-related duties necessary to support the daily operations of both departments.
The successful candidate must be able to manage tight schedules, prioritize multiple requests, maintain accurate records, and meet the daily volume requirements of two busy hospital departments. This role requires excellent communication skills, professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process routine catering service and Environmental Services requests.
- Perform general clerical and administrative duties for the Food & Nutrition Services and Environmental Services departments.
- Receive, document, and appropriately route telephone calls, service requests, and other communications.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, reports, and statistical information.
- Enter, retrieve, and organize information using computer systems and other office tools.
- Monitor schedules and service requests to ensure timely completion.
- Prioritize competing requests while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Provide prompt responses to telephone calls, emails, and customer inquiries.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, hospital personnel, and department staff.
- Attend meetings and participate in departmental initiatives as requested.
- Follow established office procedures, departmental policies, and supervisory direction.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
- Support ongoing efforts to improve patient, customer, and staff satisfaction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred/required according to department standards.
- Previous receptionist, telephone, clerical, or office experience required.
- Previous experience in a food service environment preferred.
- Healthcare or hospital experience is a plus.
