ROLE AND PURPOSE:

Assist the Transportation management team where needed, including but not limited to Special Trips, home to school to home routing, special programs, dispatch, community and campus communication, safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to use word processing software and develop schedules, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Ability to read and understand documents including policies and procedures manuals
  • Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to confront problems and find a working solution

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist Special Trips foreman in coordinating the assignment of bus drivers, attendants, and vehicles for special (field) trips
  • Assist Routing Team in routing students to/from school, as well as for special programs during the school day
  • Assist in dispatch when needed to notify drivers of changes to routes or trips
  • Assist clerically in areas of compliance
  • Work with Fleet Manager if necessary
  • Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters
  • Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computers and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.

  • Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions.

The AISD Transportation Department operates on the team concept. Each employee will be cross trained to perform the jobs of other staff members.
