At The Lyceum Agency, we work closely with some of the most influential writers and thinkers of our time-including Jesmyn Ward, Anthony Doerr, Masha Gessen, Matthew Desmond and many prominent journalists writing for The New York Times and The New Yorker-to bring their voices to audiences across the country. We're a small, collaborative, mission-driven team, and our work directly supports authors whose ideas shape national dialogue on literature, culture, politics, and social justice.
We're looking for a Client Services & Events Manager who thrives in a close-knit office environment, enjoys managing many moving parts, and finds meaning in supporting authors and the organizations that host them. What You'll Do
The Client Services & Events Manager supports all aspects of agency operations, including event coordination, client services, travel logistics, expense tracking, administrative management, and executive support. This role offers broad exposure to the business and meaningful opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
Client Services & Event Logistics
- Manage event bookings from start to finish, including generating and processing contracts, tracking expenses and invoices, and processing payments
- Coordinate logistics for author appearances: production needs, media interviews, travel arrangements, and itineraries
- Maintain the agency's master calendar and ensure accurate scheduling
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate records in the agency's CRM (Zoho)
- Support smooth day-to-day operations and help refine systems for efficiency
Executive Support
- Provide scheduling, workflow management, correspondence, and recordkeeping for Director and Associate Director
Office Management
- Oversee basic office needs, including supplies and general administrative upkeep
Who You Are
- Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at a fast pace
- A strong communicator-clear, warm, and professional in writing, on the phone, and in person
- Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative and responsibility
- Tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems
- Curious and genuinely interested in contemporary literature, arts, culture, and current events
- Enjoy working in a small, collaborative office (9 in-person employees/2 remote)
- Willing to attend author events and read widely across our roster
Requirements
- Full-time, in-office position (with possibility of ~1 remote day/week after training period)
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of professional experience (admin asst, hospitality and workforce re-entry encouraged)
- Prior experience in a professional office environment
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and client-service orientation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in literature, publishing, arts & entertainment, PR, or higher education
- Event planning, travel logistics, or schedule coordination experience
- Prior work experience outside Oregon or significant international travel
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000-$65,000 starting salary, DOE
- Performance-based bonus potential
- 6 weeks paid time off to start, including:
- 10 vacation days
