The Public Employees' Retirement System of Mississippi (PERS) serves the state of Mississippi by providing retirement benefits for individuals working in state government, public schools, universities, community colleges, municipalities, counties, the Legislature, highway patrol, and other such public entities. About the Position

This position is located within the (MIS) Department and provides support for issues escalated from Tier 1. Issues may vary from simple to more complex, but incumbents at this level handle issues of moderate complexity. Primarily focuses on understanding the issue to be resolved and solves disruptions and problems within the defined scope of Tier 2 standards and protocols. Escalates calls to a higher level of support within given time guidelines. - Duties of Client Support Technician II: • Active Directory administration • Installation, configuration, and administration of Windows Server • Microsoft 365 support and maintenance • Implementation and administration of enterprise-class anti-malware, patching, and desktop imaging solutions • Tier 2 support for all escalated user support requests (desktop, printer, software, etc.) • Anticipates future technological needs and identifies proactive solutions.

What youll need to be Successful

  • Knowledge of the OSI model and common network protocols • Strong communication skills (written and presentation) • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • VMware (or other virtualization packages), and Linux experience preferred • IT industry certifications are a plus

Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency and relevant technical knowledge, an understanding of office automation and office systems operating environments and/or complex communication devices and 1-3 years of end user support experience. - Hiring Agency Education and Experience Requirements: Requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency and one (1) to three (3) years of end-user support experience.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Many state agencies provide opportunity for employees to participate in pre-tax spending accounts. These accounts allow employees to withhold childcare expenses and unreimbursed medical expenses prior to application of state and federal taxes.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

Military Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.

Holidays

Employees receive up to 10 paid holidays to enjoy many of our nation's celebrations with family and friends.

Retirement Programs

The State of Mississippi provides all its employees a Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution Retirement Program. Employees become vested in the State's retirement system after 8 years of employment.
