CLINIC AIDE CLERK

SUMMARY: Assists licensed staff in the treatment of patients. When working as an aide, the employee must be directly supervised by the appropriate licensed staff. Direct supervision implies that the licensed staff is on the premises at all times when the Aide is providing direct patient care. Patient-related and non-patient related duties will be outlined below.

SCHEDULE: Monday/Wednesday 7:30-5:00, Tuesday/Thursday 7:30-4:00 and Fridays, 7:30-12:30

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Under the direction of a licensed staff, may assist in patient gait training; progressive exercise programs; transfer training; bed mobility training; stretching exercises; ROM; hot packs; ultrasound; other modalities as so trained.
2. Attends monthly in-service given by a rehabilitation team member with the objective of improving the aide's skills as needed.
3. Communicates appropriately with patients, other staff, family members, and others who contact the clinic.
4. Discusses on a daily basis with the licensed staff, individual patient treatment strategies/goals.
5. Data entry as directed by the licensed therapist.
6. Reports changes in patient conditions to appropriate personnel.
7. Assists in equipment maintenance; equipment cleaning; and may assist physical therapist with guarding techniques.
8. Answers telephones.
9. Requests and records accurate information from the caller and directs the call to the appropriate party if applicable.
10. Maintains accurate patient schedule at all times. Communicates changes to Customer Service Scheduler and other personnel as directed.
11. When physician orders are received, records time received (for outpatients only) if instructed (Colusa).
12. Answers visitor questions accurately or refers him/her to the appropriate party in a timely manner.
13. Assembles patient charts per clinic requirements.
14. Refers/files/pulls patient notes/reports/communications as assigned.
15. Checks in patients, collects co-pays, completes co-pay log accurately, reconciles co-pay log and submits it to the Central Customer Service Department as directed.
16. Completes all new patient paperwork and faxes daily along with the billing information sheet, prescription, and copy of insurance card and ID.
17. Keeps track of and fills out appropriate forms for independent gym program if applicable, medical records requests, collect all fees and send to customer service center daily.
18. Faxes any lien requests to Customer Service Supervisor daily.
19. Faxes or mails EMR reports to physicians as directed.
20. Mails satisfaction surveys to discharged patients.
21. Operates all office equipment (fax, copy machine, etc.) as necessary in the performance of duties.
22. Assists in the ordering of clinic supplies as directed.
23. Attends meetings as required.
24. Completes related work as required, including but not limited to general cleaning of the clinic, set-up of equipment, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in a health-related field preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Those staff who must drive on the job must hold a current California driver's license and appropriate auto collision insurance.

For those employees who must drive on the job, they may be required to sit and drive; must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
