DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Houston Health Department is actively searching for talented Clinic Assistants to perform the following functions:
Assists with related patient care duties at health center, clinic, hospital, home, mobile unit, or performs outreach duties under the supervision of a licensed medical professional.
RESPONSIBILITES:
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or record boxes (up to 50 pounds) and/or very long periods of standing and walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. Completion of a standardized program of medical education that provides training in medically assisting patients.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) months of related experience in a medical clinic, hospital or other health care facility are required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Medical Assistant certification is required.
Completion of basic CPR certification required.
Medical Assistant and CPR certification must be maintained and current for continued employment.
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
