The Clinical Services Coordinator serves as a collaborative resource for other clinical support staff. Coordinates with the Directors of Operations regarding clinical competencies of all clinical support staff for employed physicians and practices in the Samaritan Clinics Practice Sites. Provides education for clinical standards, risk mitigation, coding and documentation, and coordinates quality initiatives across the Samaritan Clinics Practice Sites. Provides information to the Director of Quality & Risk regarding the improvement activities of Samaritan Clinics in conjunction with the hospital departments involved. Ensures compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, and licensure standards.

    This is a full-time position works Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm (schedule to be determined upon hire).

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provides clinical oversight for the RNs across Samaritan Clinics. Participates in selection and evaluation processes in coordination with the Directors of Operations. Provides clinical oversight support for other clinical support personnel in practice sites where designated RN oversight does not exist.
    • Establishes clinical competency standards and provides annual education to all clinical support personnel within the practice sites.
    • Leads the development, implementation and enforcement of clinical policies, protocols and quality improvement programs in coordination with Samaritan system-wide initiatives and efforts.
    • Directs efforts to ensure effective Quality Program and Performance Improvement implementation throughout the practices in coordination with the Directors of Clinic Operations. Provides guidance to employees/management in complying with the requirements and intentions of the program.
    • Provides leadership to drive work for clinical improvement and service enhancement. Supports practices in preparation of meaningful reports to the Quality Committee, Clinic Leadership, Physician Governance Councils, and Hospital Leadership.
    • Acts as a support for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives, as directed. Prepares and submits minutes from all associated meetings, as directed.
    • In coordination with the Samaritan Clinic Executive Leadership and Samaritan Hospital Leadership develops and implements programs, initiatives, and improvement strategies across Samaritan Clinics to ensure consistency in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and other governmental requirements. Ensures that required state/federal reporting is completed in a timely manner for Samaritan Clinics in conjunction with the Samaritan Informatics department.
    • Monitors and communicates with the Clinic Operations Team regarding quality improvement trends. Assists in preparations of metric reports and development of meaningful improvement plans. Participates in Quality Monthly and Quarterly Operating Reviews.
    • Facilitates effective communication with Samaritan Clinics & Samaritan leadership regarding key clinical performance improvement activities and initiatives.
    • Responsible for facilitating ACO work with the clinics, quality department and the ACO.
    • Assists with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) regulations.
    • Responsible for facilitating investigation, required reporting, and corrective action development for serious quality or risk issues within the division as requested by the Chief Nursing Officer and the Executive Director of Clinics. Accesses company resources as appropriate. Facilitates completion of Root Cause Analysis.
    • Maintains awareness of regulations, keeping abreast of pending and or implemented changes. Develops communication tools to alert clinics.
    • Participates in development of Samaritan Clinics Strategic Planning.
    • Maintains current competency with all current Quality Program initiatives.
    • Provides education to employees and Samaritan Clinic Medical Staff and supports ongoing education related to Quality Program initiatives.
    • Meets regularly with Directors of Clinic Operations and encourages shared learning.
    • Participates in the orientation of new employees to Quality Initiatives and Protocols.
    • Reviews complaints, concerns, or questions relative to quality issues, and provide consultative leadership and support to practices and Samaritan Clinics professionals as appropriate and as directed by the Chief Nursing Officer and the Executive Director of Clinics.
    • Maintains the strictest confidentiality in the areas of patient, professional, and physician relations.
    • Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".
    • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in nursing practice and healthcare.
    • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The professional in the Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) position reports to the Director of Operations with clinical oversight provided by the Clinic Care Director. This position works closely with all Samaritan Clinic Departments and professionals in order to provide quality patient care. This position may be primarily assigned to specific medical specialty department but may be asked to work in other departments including Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Family Medicine, OB/Women's Health, Urgent Care, Podiatry, and other departments as requested.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Education:

    a. Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field OR equivalent education/experience required.

    b. Master's degree in Nursing or related field OR equivalent education/experience preferred.

    • License:

    a. Current Washington state Registered Nurse license.

    • Experience:

    a. Minimum 3 years of related clinical experience involving quality improvement, leadership, and healthcare quality practices, as well as associated regulatory rules and laws. At least one year must have been in capacity as direct supervisor of other professional level employees.

    b. Minimum 3 years direct experience in ambulatory care quality improvement preferred.

    i. Ability to speak, understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions in English. Bilingual skill with Spanish is an asset.

    i. Ability to use and analyze hospital, county, and state health data to modify and support community programs.

    ii. Ability to make decisions which may have significant impact on the department's credibility, program operations and services.

    i. Thorough knowledge of health care delivery, current trends, and strategies in healthcare.

    ii. Knowledge of principles of Lean management systems and strategy deployment is desired.

    iii. Knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements.

    iv. Knowledge of governmental reporting programs.

    v. Mentor, influence, and manage through matrix reporting relationships.

    vi. Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex data

    vii. Ability to prepare comprehensive management reports.

    viii. Project Management: Skilled in project planning, task prioritization, effectively manages resources, outcomes measurement, and tracking. Takes initiative and exercises good judgment. Ability to coordinate various projects and activities concurrently.

    ix. Maintains high level of confidentiality at all times.

    x. Ability to build trust and gain respect through effective team leadership and participation skills.

    xi. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    d. Ability to work under minimal direct supervision but maintain a high degree of communication of current work activity with supervisor(s).

    i. Current (Healthcare Provider [HCP] level) CPR certification or completed within six months of hire.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and climb stairs to varying degrees throughout the day.

    2. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

    3. Good reading eyesight; full vision acuity, depth perception, and color perception.

    4. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
