Job Description

East Hawaii Health Clinics is seeking a Clinic Managers to lead the daily operations and performance of the Gastroenterology clinic in Hilo. In this role, you will oversee clinic operations, staff performance, patient experience, and financial management while partnering closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and support teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by improving access, operational efficiency, and healthcare outcomes for the communities of East Hawai‘i.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of multi-specialty outpatient clinics, including scheduling, referrals, registration accuracy, staffing coverage, patient throughput, and workflow optimization.
  • Supervise and develop clinic staff, including receptionists, medical assistants, nurse aides, LPNs, and RNs, while fostering accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Monitor Epic work queues, authorizations, referrals, registration processes, and revenue cycle workflows to support operational efficiency and clean claim performance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinic policies, procedures, budgets, quality improvement initiatives, and operational plans to achieve organizational and fiscal goals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, leadership teams, Human Resources, and community partners to improve patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and clinic performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements, including HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, Joint Commission, and Hawaii Health Systems Corporation policies.


Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • Two (2) years of professional administrative, supervisory, or consultative experience in hospital or clinic administration involving clinic operations, budgeting, personnel management, and healthcare program administration.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience, including planning, organizing, directing, assigning, and reviewing the work of others and developing staff.

Substitutions: 

  • Additional specialized experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • A master’s degree in healthcare administration, hospital administration, business administration, social work, or nursing may substitute for one (1) year of the required specialized experience.


Preferred Skills:
Strong knowledge of outpatient clinic operations, fiscal administration, budgeting, staffing, customer service, quality improvement, and healthcare regulations. Experience with Epic workflows, referral management, revenue cycle processes, and operational analytics highly desirable. Ability to lead teams effectively, manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, and drive operational improvements in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen.  The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
