Jefferson Community Health & Life is looking to hire a Nurse Manager at the Fairbury Clinic.
Hours: 36 -40 hours per week. M - F, between 7:30am - 5:00pm
Position Summary
The Clinic Nurse Manager provides clinical leadership for the daily nursing operations of the physician clinics while supervising nursing staff and participating in direct patient care. This position ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care that supports Jefferson Community Health & Life's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.
The Clinic Nurse Manager is a working manager who combines nursing leadership responsibilities with direct patient care. The position oversees clinical workflow, staffing, patient care delivery, regulatory compliance, staff education, competency development, and performance management while serving as a clinical resource for providers, staff, patients, and families.
Working collaboratively with the Clinic Administrator, providers, and interdisciplinary team members, the Clinic Nurse Manager coordinates nursing services, promotes evidence-based practice, supports quality and patient safety initiatives, and fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement. The Clinic Nurse Manager ensures compliance with professional nursing standards, organizational policies, Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) requirements, and all applicable federal and state regulations while maintaining excellence in patient care.
Serves as a clinical resource for Electronic Health Record (EHR) workflows, system optimization, and clinical technology initiatives.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Clinic nursing personnel, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and other assigned clinical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Nebraska required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of ambulatory, physician clinic, or related nursing experience required.
- Previous leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physician clinic operations, nursing practice standards, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Clinical Operations
- Provides leadership and supervision for clinic nursing personnel, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and other assigned clinical staff.
- Coordinates daily nursing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
- Develop staffing schedules and ensure appropriate clinical coverage for all providers and clinic services.
- Establishes and maintains consistent nursing practices in accordance with evidence-based standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee nursing workflow, exam room readiness, clinical supply management, medication storage, and infection prevention practices.
- Conducts staff meetings, competency assessments, coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing education.
- Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff.
Direct Patient Care
- Functions as a working Registered Nurse by providing direct patient care as operational needs require.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Performs nursing assessments, medication administration, treatments, injections, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and other nursing procedures within scope of practice.
- Assists providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and preventive care.
- Performs telephone triage utilizing approved clinical protocols and nursing judgment.
- Documents patient care, interventions, education, and provider communications accurately in the electronic health record.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Promotes patient safety through adherence to nursing standards, infection prevention practices, medication safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees compliance with Rural Health Clinic (RHC), Critical Access Hospital (CAH), OSHA, HIPAA, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitors clinical documentation and nursing practices to ensure regulatory compliance.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with providers, the Clinic Administrator, Case Manager, Behavioral Health, and other departments to coordinate patient care.
- Serves as a liaison between nursing staff, providers, and leadership.
- Promotes effective communication, teamwork, and exceptional customer service throughout the clinic.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) & Clinical Systems
- Serves as a clinical resource for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other clinical information systems.
- Assists staff with troubleshooting clinical workflow and Electronic Health Record (EHR) issues.
- Submits, monitors, and follows up on Service Requests (SRs) related to clinic operations, clinical workflows, and Electronic Health Record functionality.
- Participates in implementation and education related to EHR updates, enhancements, and new functionality.
- Assists in developing and maintaining standardized clinical workflows within the EHR to promote efficiency, documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.
- Provides education and support to staff regarding EHR processes, documentation standards, and best practices.
Professional Development
- Maintains licensure, certifications, and continuing education.
- Participate in organizational committees, leadership meetings, educational activities, and performance improvement initiatives.
