This position is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, patient-centered clinical operations; ensuring staff competency and accountability; supporting providers; coordinating patient care; and promoting compliance with applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on registered nurse leader who can balance direct clinical support with staff supervision, workflow management, quality improvement, and patient service.

Clinical Leadership and Patient Care

  • Oversee daily nursing and clinical support operations, including patient intake, triage, medication reconciliation, procedure preparation, recovery, and follow-up care.

  • Ensure patients receive safe, timely, compassionate, and clinically appropriate care.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical support staff.

  • Review and respond to clinical concerns, changes in patient condition, and urgent patient communications within the scope of nursing practice.

  • Promote consistent use of evidence-based clinical standards, provider protocols, and organizational policies.

  • Coordinate care among physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, pharmacies, laboratories, imaging facilities, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and referring providers.

Staff Management and Development

  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, supervising, and evaluating clinical employees.

  • Establish clear performance, conduct, attendance, documentation, and patient-service expectations.

  • Develop and maintain orientation plans, competency assessments, and ongoing education for clinical staff.

  • Monitor staff schedules, timekeeping, overtime, leave requests, and daily clinical coverage.

  • Delegate responsibilities according to employee qualifications, demonstrated competency, and applicable scope-of-practice requirements.

  • Provide coaching and timely feedback and address performance or conduct concerns in coordination with Human Resources and practice leadership.

  • Conduct clinical staff meetings, safety huddles, and educational sessions.

  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, effective communication, and a positive workplace culture.

Clinic and Procedure Operations

  • Coordinate clinical staffing and workflows to support efficient clinic and procedure schedules.

  • Ensure providers have the trained staff, supplies, medications, equipment, and clinical information needed to deliver care.

  • Monitor patient flow, room utilization, wait times, and clinical schedule readiness.

  • Ensure required medical records, imaging, laboratory results, medication clearances, authorizations, and pre-procedure documentation are available before visits and procedures.

  • Oversee pre-procedure screening, patient education, consent readiness, discharge instructions, and post-procedure follow-up processes.

  • Identify workflow barriers and implement improvements that support patient safety, staff efficiency, and provider productivity.

  • Escalate significant clinical, operational, personnel, or compliance concerns to practice leadership.

Pain Management Operations

  • Oversee nursing workflows for pain management evaluations, medication-management visits, injections, and interventional procedures.

  • Support compliance with controlled-substance policies, prescription-monitoring requirements, urine drug-testing protocols, medication agreements, and related documentation standards.

  • Ensure staff follow established processes for medication refills, patient messages, abnormal results, and escalation of clinical concerns.

  • Coordinate anticoagulant clearances, medication holds, allergy reviews, infection screening, and other pre-procedure requirements.

  • Monitor procedure cancellations, clinical delays, and incomplete pre-procedure requirements.

  • Ensure emergency supplies, medications, and equipment are available, properly maintained, and routinely inspected.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas or eligibility to obtain licensure before beginning employment.

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.

  • Current Basic Life Support certification.

  • At least three years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Previous nursing leadership, charge nurse, supervisory, or clinic-management experience.

  • Working knowledge of clinical workflows, patient triage, medication safety, infection prevention, documentation standards, and healthcare regulations.

  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems, practice-management software, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to perform the essential clinical and administrative responsibilities of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

  • Three or more years of nursing leadership or healthcare supervisory experience.

  • Experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic, ambulatory surgery center, or procedure-based setting.

  • Experience in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, spine care, surgery, or another procedural specialty.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.

  • Experience with prior authorizations, clinical quality programs, regulatory surveys, and revenue-cycle processes.

Required Competencies

  • Strong clinical judgment and patient-safety awareness

  • Effective leadership, coaching, and employee-management skills

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication

  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving ability

  • Conflict-management and service-recovery skills

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through

  • Ability to delegate appropriately and hold staff accountable

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Discretion when handling confidential patient, employee, and business information

  • Commitment to ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered care

Additional Expectations

This position may perform other duties based on the needs of the practice. Responsibilities may change as the organization, providers, locations, and service lines evolve.
