Provides nursing services such as pregnancy testing and counseling, maternity services, public health assessment, international travel vaccinations, refugee services, sexually transmitted disease treatment and follow-up, HIV testing and counseling, tuberculosis screening and treatment, adult and childhood immunizations to individuals, families, and targeted at-risk populations in the clinic setting. Provides appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment of clients following public health standards of care. Utilizes a variety of nursing skills to meet identified needs of clients in clinic setting. Identifies gaps in community resources and shares with appropriate department staff who can work with community partners to build service capacity.
Note: Position is located at the Franconia Springfield Public Health Center: 6564 Loisdale Court, Springfield, VA. The Public Health Center hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM on Tuesday.
Additional Work Schedule Requirements: Flexible dependent on department needs. May occasionally start as early as 7:00 a.m. or work as late as 9:30 p.m. based on service demands and occasionally on weekends. May be assigned to work at various sites. Must provide own transportation,

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelors degree in nursing; plus one year post-licensure nursing experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, driving record check, tuberculosis test, and sanction screenings to the satisfaction of the employer.
This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature, however, job entails walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, reaching and bending; may be required to lift up or carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally; uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. Generally, works in an office environment yet may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. Ability to drive a motor vehicle. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
