Provides a variety of clerical and support activities for Carson Tahoe Medical Group. Schedules established patient appointments following the scheduling guidelines for each appointment type. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the patient registration/demographic information obtained during each patient encounter. Responsible for collection of copays/deductibles as identified. Ensures the completion of all documents required at point of patient access.
Qualifications
Required
One (1) year direct customer service experience
Must possess strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
One (1) year of experience in a medical office setting
Medical terminology knowledge
Essential Functions
Ensures the accuracy of all patient encounter information (demographics/insurance). 95% accuracy to meet standard; 99% accuracy rate to exceed standard.
Efficiently answers phone calls and transfers calls to appropriate extensions without delay. Screens calls appropriately asking caller specific questions to clarify where the call should be transferred.
Ensures minimum of 50% success rate in collection of patient share of cost (co-payments) to meet standard; 75% success rate to exceed standard.
Ensures patients have signed all necessary paperwork including but not limited to welcome packets and paperwork needed in advance of an appointment.
Ensures that current authorizations are in place prior to scheduling patients for services.
Demonstrates the ability to learn and use various computer programs to perform efficient scheduling and receptionist duties. This includes but is not limited to: EMR, Shoretel, Chartmaxx, Outlook, and Internet websites as appropriate and within the guidelines of department policy.
Follows and maintains office scheduling procedures to including but not limited to: maintaining and updating provider schedules, organizing appointment schedules on daily/weekly basis for optimum flow, and documenting all patient encounters appropriately in the EMR system.
Assesses and trouble shoots problems with patients, referring physicians and their staff. Independently makes decisions that fundamentally adhere to hospital and/or department protocols.
Independently demonstrates ability to provide and facilitate excellent customer service in all situations.
Acts as a mentor for new employees as they develop their skills & competencies related to daily job functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
