Executive Overview

A nationally active commercial construction and engineering organization is seeking a Director of Scheduling to lead its enterprise scheduling and planning function. This is a senior leadership role focused on aligning scheduling strategy with construction operations, field execution, and business objectives across a large project portfolio.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned construction operations leader who understands how schedules drive project performance, risk management, and predictable delivery — not someone whose background is limited to technical scheduling or software execution alone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide enterprise leadership for construction planning and scheduling
  • Lead and develop a centralized scheduling department
  • Establish and maintain standardized scheduling processes, governance, and best practices
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, and operations leaders to support schedule development and execution
  • Ensure schedule integrity, quality, and consistency across multiple construction projects
  • Guide teams through schedule risk analysis, change impacts, and recovery planning
  • Translate contractual and operational requirements into executable schedule strategies
  • Oversee schedule reporting, analytics, and communication to project and executive stakeholders
  • Drive training and continuous improvement initiatives related to construction scheduling
  • Support projects through periodic site or regional travel as needed

Required Qualifications
  • 15–20+ years of construction experience with significant operational responsibility
  • Career experience spanning field operations, project management, and construction leadership
  • Proven ownership of schedules on large, complex commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Experience building, mentoring, and leading teams in a departmental or enterprise role
  • Strong ability to influence project teams and senior leadership
  • Solid understanding of industry scheduling practices, construction means and methods, and project controls

Ideal Background
  • Senior Project Manager, Director of Construction, or Operations Leader
  • Experience within large GC or EPC organizations with mature scheduling and planning processes
  • Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools (Primavera or similar), including cost and resource?loaded schedules
  • Jacksonville?area professionals preferred; relocation assistance available

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, retirement programs, paid time off, and professional development opportunities
