Executive Overview
A nationally active commercial construction and engineering organization is seeking a Director of Scheduling to lead its enterprise scheduling and planning function. This is a senior leadership role focused on aligning scheduling strategy with construction operations, field execution, and business objectives across a large project portfolio.
This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned construction operations leader who understands how schedules drive project performance, risk management, and predictable delivery not someone whose background is limited to technical scheduling or software execution alone.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise leadership for construction planning and scheduling
- Lead and develop a centralized scheduling department
- Establish and maintain standardized scheduling processes, governance, and best practices
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and operations leaders to support schedule development and execution
- Ensure schedule integrity, quality, and consistency across multiple construction projects
- Guide teams through schedule risk analysis, change impacts, and recovery planning
- Translate contractual and operational requirements into executable schedule strategies
- Oversee schedule reporting, analytics, and communication to project and executive stakeholders
- Drive training and continuous improvement initiatives related to construction scheduling
- Support projects through periodic site or regional travel as needed
Required Qualifications
- 1520+ years of construction experience with significant operational responsibility
- Career experience spanning field operations, project management, and construction leadership
- Proven ownership of schedules on large, complex commercial or industrial construction projects
- Experience building, mentoring, and leading teams in a departmental or enterprise role
- Strong ability to influence project teams and senior leadership
- Solid understanding of industry scheduling practices, construction means and methods, and project controls
Ideal Background
- Senior Project Manager, Director of Construction, or Operations Leader
- Experience within large GC or EPC organizations with mature scheduling and planning processes
- Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools (Primavera or similar), including cost and resource?loaded schedules
- Jacksonville?area professionals preferred; relocation assistance available
Education
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
