In this role, you'll spend your day conducting outbound calls to insurance providers to verify and obtain member benefit information, researching and updating records across multiple systems, and ensuring medical request data is accurately documented. You'll review case notes and member files, scan and attach documents to the appropriate records, and follow established procedures to route requests correctly. Working with internal resources as needed, you'll help resolve questions, stay current on system updates, and collaborate with colleagues through team meetings to support efficient and accurate operations.

This position is full time, Monday- Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am- 7:00 pm CST (flexible) with a rotating Saturday shift every three months. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 2 - 4 weeks of training. The hours during training will be 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday- Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform outbound calls to insurance providers to obtain member benefit details.
  • Access electronic member files using policy or id number and attach to the appropriate location
  • Follow protocols to task requests appropriately
  • Reference job aid tools via the computer to identify appropriate procedures when needed
  • Review and interpret call history documentation (e.g., case notes)
  • Navigate between computer screens and platforms to research information (e.g., medical, clinical, or benefits information)
  • Learn computer system and process changes and updates and incorporate into daily work
  • Contact internal resources if necessary to clarify information
  • Document call history information into relevant computer system
  • Enter medical request data into relevant computer system
  • Scan documents and attach them to the correct patient
  • Participate in team and branch meetings
  • Add other duties as assigned

You'll need to be efficient, productive and thorough dealing with our providers over the phone. You also must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evening hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of experience in customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to work full time, Monday- Friday. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clerical OR administrative support background
  • Experience working in a hospital, physician's office OR medical clinic setting
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
  • Experience with Prior Authorization and Benefit Verification
  • Experience working within the health care Industry and with health care insurance

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 - $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
