General Job Information

Job Summary:

Responsible for exercising overall leadership responsibility for organizing, monitoring, coordinating, and administering, comprehensive behavioral health services to ensure psychiatric and other behavioral health services are provided to all patients on the inpatient unit in the adult Clinical Operations. Coordinates and directs all ward activities related to patient, admissions, treatment, transfer, discharge, and follow up assessment. Exercises delegated authority to order corrective action of all service delivery deficiencies. Ensures that a comprehensive, individualized, recovery based treatment program is developed and implemented for each patient. Provides clinical treatment input in planning, coordinating and monitoring the clinical services provided by multidisciplinary personnel. Serves as Performance Improvement expert providing advice to influence and shape policy decisions. Collects and organizes data relative to the productivity and active treatment being provided to patients on the unit. Conducts multidisciplinary staff and case conferences to establish objectives and benchmarks for improved patient care.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Minimum Education Requirement

Candidates must have completed a full four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in an academic field relating to the health or allied science pertinent to the position.

Master's Degree in a clinical health field such as psychology, social work or nursing is preferred

Licensures, Certifications and other requirements

Current licensure in the District of Columbia in a clinical discipline is required (Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or professional counselor)

Work Experience

Experience providing administrative, clinical supervision and direct patient care to persons with severe and persistent mental illness.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

This position is designated as Essential. As an Essential employee, you will be required to report to work or stay at work during a declared emergency.

RESIDENCY PREFERENCE AMENDMENT ACT OF 1988

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
