TITLE: Clinical Application Analyst Epic II
JOB OVERVIEW: The Clinical Application Analyst Epic II is responsible for the configuration, support, and ongoing maintenance of Epic applications supporting core business and patient care functions. The role partners closely with business, clinical, IT, and vendor stakeholders to ensure system reliability, data integrity, workflow effectiveness, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements, while working within a more defined scope and escalating higher-risk or more complex issues appropriately. This role maintains foundational awareness of the network, server, and interface infrastructure to support Epic application troubleshooting, integrations, and effective collaboration with infrastructure teams.
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
WORK HOURS: Core business hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Employees may be expected to work off hours as necessary to fulfill responsibilities or meet business needs.
REPORTS TO: IT Manager, Epic Applications
PREREQUISITES:
Associate''s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required in one or more of the following areas: Information Services with entry-level or early IT analyst experience; clinical experience in acute or ambulatory settings (clinical education or licensure is a plus); or healthcare operations experience involving billing, scheduling, access services, or HIM, with familiarity in appointment scheduling, billing procedures, coding, and patient flow.
A Bachelor''s degree in related field may be considered in lieu of up to 2 years of the required experience. Epic certification is preferred at hire; incumbent must obtain applicable Epic certification and complete required coursework within 6 months of hire.
Foundational understanding of healthcare computing environments, workflow analysis, Epic application configuration, and documentation practices.
Ability to translate operational needs into clear technical actions under established standards, learn quickly, and work independently on assigned tasks. Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated competence in analysis and troubleshooting of healthcare IT applications.
Understanding of healthcare computing environments, regulatory compliance requirements, and clinical and operational workflows.
Experience with enterprise reporting, auditing, or regulatory compliance requirements preferred.
Familiarity with change management, testing methodologies, documentation standards, and system governance practices.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, produce accurate work, and meet deadlines.
Ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and numerous interruptions.
Demonstrated understanding of healthcare computing environments.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, learn quickly, and maintain strong attention to detail.
Proven record of excellent organizational skills and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and provide strong customer service.
UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily sedentary work performed in an office or remote environment. Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasional lifting of light equipment (up to 40 pounds). May require off-hours support during critical system events, upgrades, or outages.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
Module and Application Support
Support one or more assigned Epic applications, modules, or functional areas under the direction of senior analysts or application leads.
Serve as a resource and point of contact for assigned systems, including supported business or clinical workflows, standard Epic configuration, data flow, and integrations.
Assist with user training, job aids, and knowledge transfer activities that support consistent workflows and adoption.
Configure and maintain Epic applications based on approved designs and standards;, escalate deviations, risks, or non-standard requests to senior analysts or application owners.
Partner with business, clinical, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, support workflow improvements, and translate operational needs into system updates or enhancements.
Participate in stakeholder meetings to assist with gathering requirements, validating understanding, and supporting assigned follow-up tasks.
Assist in evaluating, documenting, and implementing system enhancements, optimizations, and approved configuration changes within a defined scope.
Participate in application- or module-specific testing, validation, upgrades, and post-implementation support activities.
Maintain application documentation, configuration records, security roles, workflows, and data governance artifacts following established organizational and compliance standards.
Maintain awareness of application infrastructure dependencies, including environments, interfaces, integrations, and identity access considerations, and escalate issues or risks as appropriate.
Collaborate with infrastructure, integration, and security teams to support reliable system operation and adherence to architectural and security standards.
Solution Design & Configuration
Support analysis of business requirements; assist in translating needs into Epic configurations and solution designs under senior guidance.
Configure standard business rules, workflows, security roles, and data elements within assigned Epic domains following established standards.
Participate in implementation efforts of process improvements that reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and increase end-user efficiency.
Support & Troubleshooting
Provide day-to-day Epic application support; investigate and resolve routine issues and escalate complex, high-risk, or cross-functional incidents to senior analysts as appropriate.
Monitor assigned processes, work queues, and reports for errors or trends; assist with corrective and preventative actions.
Integrations & Data
Support troubleshooting of integrations and data interfaces by validating data, reviewing errors or queues, and coordinating with senior analysts, reporting resources, or integration teams.
Assist with data reconciliation activities and support reporting and integration teams to help ensure data accuracy.
Release & Change Management
Participate in release impact reviews, regression testing, validation activities, upgrades, and post-implementation support for assigned Epic applications.
Support change request intake, documentation, and testing activities in alignment with governance processes and change control standards.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Work closely with senior analysts to learn configuration standards, testing practices, support methodologies, and documentation expectations.
Participate in workstreams and stakeholder meetings; track action items and support resolution of assigned tasks while steadily increasing independence.
IT Department General Requirements
Communicate regularly with lead or manager, including work progress, system status, risks, and issues.
Promptly escalate problems, unexpected work, service impacts, and missed targets.
Document system changes, incidents, and issues in accordance with departmental procedures.
