Job Description

The Clinical Assessor is the first step in clinical care for clients seeking behavioral health services. The Clinical Assessor is responsible for the professional and accurate completion of the ADHS mandated comprehensive assessment packet, individualized integrated service plans, crisis plans, and evidence-based screening tools. This includes meeting with the patient and their guardian if applicable, establishing rapport with all individuals present, and gathering confidential information in an efficacious and professional manner.

The Clinical Assessor must be able to listen effectively and, based on clinical knowledge and client data, determine a preliminary diagnosis for a patient at intake, which will act as the basis of the Integrated BH service plan. In addition to the ISP, the Intake Assessor must also be capable of completing the Mental Status Exam, the Crisis Plan, the Risk Assessment, the Strength and Culture Discovery, and the Overall impressions.

The Clinical Assessor must follow the Admissions and Assessment procedure, which will follow a fast track "walk-in process." The Clinical Assessor must also be capable of explaining the Child and Family Team process to youth clients and families and must be able to present the introductory CFT paperwork to the family at the end of the assessment process.

The Clinical Assessor will also complete Annual Comprehensive Assessment paperwork and evidence-based screeners and treatment plan updates for enrolled patients as scheduled on their calendar and coordinated with appropriate care coordinator roles. This role also assists with staff training as needed.

Job Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• 18 years of age or older • Bachelors or masters degree in behavioral health, B.H. related field, or Clinical Intern in bachelors or masters degree behavioral health program in good standing • Bachelors or masters degree in non-BH related field AND 1 year of BH work experience • Associates degree AND 2 years of BH work experience • High School diploma and 4 years of experience in a BH setting, with 1 year of direct patient contact

If the applicant has less than four years of experience or at least one year of direct care experience, Director approval will be required during the hiring and credentialing process.

Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish. Must have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the behavioral health services that the agency is authorized to provide and to meet the unique needs of consumer populations served by the agency, including children. Must meet requirements for a Behavioral Health Technician II, BHT II.

Must be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of human behavior and counseling theories. Strong verbal, written, and communications skills. Knowledge of Windows environment and/or Electronic Health Records Systems. Ability to provide culturally sensitive services.

Must have or be able to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must possess reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and proof of auto insurance. Basic Life Support trained or the ability to be trained within 10 business days from hire date.
