Key Responsibilities:- Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant (CA) will help provide competent care for pediatric surgical patients on a 27-bed inpatient unit.
- Surgical specialties include orthopedics, general surgery, trauma, ORL, and plastic surgery.
- In collaboration with the registered nurse, the CA is responsible for obtaining vital signs including oxygen saturation measurements, measuring intake and output, performing EKGs, and obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens; all while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- The CA may assist with transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
- The CA role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
- The ability to work a schedule of 12-hour shifts, 24 hours/week, permanent night shifts, every weekend (Sat/Sun 7PM - 7 AM)
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A HS Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:- 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work within a team.
