Major/Essential Functions

  • Provide direct clinical services (assessments, interventions, and care partner training) to patients experiencing cognitive decline, dementia, and related neurogenic communication disorders.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate student clinicians during clinical practicum sessions.
  • Provide clinically relevant teaching and instruction to graduate students in a clinical environment.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain clinical licensure and expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent and consistent experience supervising graduate student clinicians in direct clinical service within the last three years.
  • At least 8 years of recent, direct speech-language pathology service provision to adult and geriatric populations with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), dementia, or other neurodegenerative conditions.
  • Experience delivering care partner/caregiver training and implementing evidence-based cognitive-communication interventions.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Evidence of at least three years of clinical practice, with a specific focus on adult/geriatric neurogenics and cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with graduate student clinicians.
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) and Texas licensure (or eligibility).

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
