About the Opportunity

An onsite employee health center located within the San Francisco offices of a leading financial services firm is seeking an experienced Clinical Care Coordinator who is equally comfortable drawing blood, administering vaccines and supporting front-office clinic operations.

This position combines hands-on specimen collection with patient check-in, scheduling, documentation, referrals, and general administrative support. It is an excellent opportunity for a phlebotomist who enjoys variety, values personal patient interaction, and can help keep a small clinic organized throughout the day.

The clinic provides employees with convenient access to wellness visits, preventive services, vaccinations, health screenings, minor illness care, and follow-up coordination.

What You Will Do

  • Greet patients and provide a welcoming, professional check-in experience.
  • Confirm appointments and collect required patient information.
  • Perform venipuncture confidently and independently.
  • Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for transport.
  • Complete urine collection and point-of-care testing as assigned.
  • Obtain vital signs and assist with basic patient intake.
  • Administer vaccines when qualified to do so under California requirements. Candidates performing this duty must maintain an active California CPT I certification and, separately, meet applicable California Medical Assistant injection-training and competency requirements, including required authorization and supervision.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and referrals.
  • Reinforce care instructions provided by the clinical team.
  • Contact insurance carriers when coverage verification is required.
  • Upload laboratory results and supporting records into the EMR.
  • Answer clinic phone calls and route messages appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and protect confidential information.
  • Monitor supplies and keep patient-care and front-office areas organized.
  • Support daily clinic workflows as patient and scheduling needs arise.

Required Qualifications

  • Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification.
  • Current and regular hands-on venipuncture experience.
  • Ability to perform blood draws confidently without retraining.
  • Previous experience supporting a medical front desk or clinical office.
  • Active BLS or ACLS certification (CPR Certification).
  • Prior hands-on vaccine administration experience.
For vaccine administration duties, candidates must have completed the injection training and demonstrated competency required for Medical Assistants under California law and be able to provide documentation supporting that training and experience.
  • Candidates must be eligible to administer vaccines within the California Medical Assistant scope of practice. An active CPT I certification alone does not authorize vaccine administration.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and medical terminology.
  • Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent bedside manner.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the clinical team.
  • Reliable ability to commute to downtown San Francisco.

Recent venipuncture experience is an essential qualification. Candidates who have not performed blood draws recently or cannot complete them independently will not be considered.

Vaccine administration is also a required clinical responsibility for this position. Candidates must be able to provide documentation supporting their prior injection training and competency in accordance with applicable California requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Insurance verification
  • Point-of-care testing
  • Specimen processing and laboratory preparation
  • Patient referral management
  • Employee health, occupational health, primary care, or outpatient clinic experience
