Position Summary:
The Chair of Surgery is a member of the Clinical Faculty for Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). The Chair of Surgery is responsible for the Surgery program development, including participation in designing the Surgery curriculum, as well as assisting the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs with development of the pre-clinical and clinical curriculum. This role includes faculty recruitment and faculty development to ensure successful delivery of the curriculum and clinical experiences across all four years of the program. Other responsibilities include the supervision of the school's Surgery faculty and students and contribution to the advancement of students' professionalism, knowledge, skills, and competencies to the level required for a graduate Osteopathic physician.

Complexity of duties will be commensurate with level of experience. This individual will have direct interaction with medical students and academic faculty which may require advanced critical thinking and analytical skills.
Types of Contacts:
This individual reports directly to, the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs. This individual will interact with faculty, staff, and administrative personnel of the University, clinical faculty and staff at clinical clerkship sites, and student applicants from various universities throughout the U.S.
