About the START Program

The START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment) Program provides crisis prevention and intervention services for individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. Our goal is to provide person-centered, community-based supports that help individuals remain safely in their homes and communities.

Services include:

  • Crisis Response
  • In-Home Support
  • Therapeutic Resource Centers
  • Consultation
  • Education and Training
  • Community Outreach

The program serves 17 counties throughout Western New York.

Position Summary

As a START CSIDD Coordinator, you will manage an active caseload of individuals referred for services and coordinate supports across multiple systems. You will provide consultation, outreach, crisis intervention, and person-centered planning to help individuals and families access the resources they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and coordinate an active caseload
  • Develop and implement cross-system support plans
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
  • Conduct outreach, consultation, and education activities
  • Collaborate with families, providers, and community partners
  • Support individuals with IDD and co-occurring mental health or behavioral health needs
  • Complete documentation and reports in a timely manner

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related Human Services field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health/behavioral health needs

Preferred

  • Experience working with complex service systems
  • Experience supporting families and individuals in crisis
  • Strong case management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
