Job Summary
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition and establishes a plan of care.
- Performs therapy programs utilizing standard therapy techniques as appropriate for the patient's age, functional impairments, abilities, needs, and desires.
- Documents delivery of Therapy services.
- Educates patients, family, caregivers, significant others, and staff members.
- Directs and supervises activities of Assistants and support personnel as indicated.
- Acts as coordinator for clinical education.
- Coordinates department functions.
- Provides leadership and resource support
Qualifications
Education
- Requires a bachelor's, masters or doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist or Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Experience
- Required 2 years of clinical experience in acute orthopedic care.
- Prefer 5 years and board certification as a Clinical Orthopedic Specialist.
- Must demonstrate understanding of principles of evidence based practice.
Licensure/Certification/Registration/Professional Designation
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
- APTA Clinical Instructor Certification required or must be completed within the first two years.
