Description of Position
A Nursing Clinical Coordinator/Instructional Staff position, is a vital role responsible for overseeing and coordinating clinical placements and hospital orientation schedules for all students in the nursing program.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the incumbent will serve as a pivotal link between the nursing program and the clinical facilities to verify student health requirements are up to date in order to receive effective and timely onboarding to ensure high-quality clinical education and training experiences. They work closely with nursing faculty/staff and are responsible for organizing and managing clinical placements for students, maintaining relationships with clinical partners, and guaranteeing that clinical programs align with accreditation and educational standards.
In addition to a competitive salary for this 12-month position, we offer generous time off (including a two-week winter break and a one-week spring break, 10 sick days annually, up to 3 personal days (from the sick leave bank), retirement, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance at 2 x basic salary and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Site Coordination: Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with clinical sites, including hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities, to secure suitable placement opportunities for students. Negotiate and manage affiliation agreements and contracts with clinical partners.
- Student Placement: Evaluate the clinical placement needs of students based on program requirements, learning objectives, and individual student goals. Match students with appropriate clinical sites, preceptors, and patient populations.
- Orientation and Training: Provide orientation and guidance to students before clinical placements, including expectations, policies, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Organize or facilitate training sessions for students to prepare them for their clinical experiences.
- Compliance and Accreditation: Stay informed about and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards relevant to clinical education. Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for program accreditation.
- Student Support: Assist with clinical skills lab instruction (didactic and practice), nursing skills check offs, remediation, and lab preparations. Provides clinical instruction in a variety of healthcare settings and locations. Offer support and guidance to students during their clinical experiences, addressing issues or concerns as they arise. Promote a positive learning environment and ensure that students meet educational objectives.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty and program director to develop, review, and update the clinical and skills lab curriculum to align with program requirements, industry standards, and evolving healthcare practices. Ensure that clinical experiences meet accreditation and licensure standards.
- Evaluation and Assessment: Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating student learning, nursing clinical experiences to meet program outcomes. Implement student and preceptor evaluations to assess clinical performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement. Collaborate with faculty to assess the effectiveness of clinical education programs.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage administrative tasks, such as scheduling, record-keeping, and tracking student progress. Maintain records of clinical site requirements, including health and safety protocols and background checks. This position oversees the Nursing department skills inventory for all classes to include ordering, maintaining stock levels, and keeping all lab stocked well-organized and current.
- This position requires excellent oral, written and electronic communication. The incumbent will need to effectively foster collegial relationships both intra and interdepartmentally, model professional behaviors including involvement with/in professional organizations and engagement in lifelong learning.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Current unencumbered AZ Nursing License
Experience:
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to walk independently, perform manual skills, and see and hear students and clients in the clinical and laboratory settings
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with the MS Office Suite, the Internet, and email. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies. Experience with online learning platforms and student management systems.

Education:
- Master of Science in Nursing or related field
Experience:
- At least three years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
- Experience as a clinical instructor for an associate degree nursing program
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be in good standing with clinical agency placement health requirements
- Work experience in a community college/higher education work environment
- Knowledge of student clinical record-keeping services (i.e. Castlebranch, myClinicalExchange, etc.) is an asset.
