Position Summary:
The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director. Clinical education effectiveness will be ensured through a schedule of regular visits to all clinical education centers. The Clinical Coordinator will coordinate all clinical instructors at affiliated sites with the goal of maintaining a consistent and uniform clinical experience and will participate in didactic radiology classroom instruction. Additional responsibilities include student assessment in the clinical setting, faculty orientation, and mentoring. This position reports to the Program Director of the Radiologic Technology Program at the University of Charleston Beckley location.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides didactic instruction and evaluation
Keeps accurate records on all clinical students assigned to affiliates
Conducts routine visits to all affiliates
Coordinates specific clinical objectives for students requiring additional support
Coordinate clinical education for all clinical centers
Travel to and provide instruction at clinical sites
Evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical education component of the program
Plan and conduct regularly scheduled visits to each affiliate
Work in conjunction with clinical instructors to ensure standardization and consistency of rotation schedules, evaluations, policies, and other procedures pertaining to students' clinical education
Evaluate the competency-based clinical system and recommend revisions as necessary
Quantitatively evaluate the student-to-instructor ratio and its effectiveness based on outcomes; recommend action to the Program Director in accordance with JRCERT Standards
Provide didactic instruction as assigned by the Program Director
Prepare lesson plans, course syllabi, and course outlines for didactic and clinical courses
Review RT course syllabi, outlines, the Program Handbook, and Clinical Handbook annually and ensure compliance with JRCERT and University standards; recommend revisions, additions, or changes as necessary
Ensure the accuracy of student clinical records, attendance records, evaluations, and related documentation
Ensure the accuracy and determination of clinical grades
Review the program curriculum regularly in relation to University and School criteria for degree requirements
Provide advising for students based on their clinical and didactic performance and progress in the program
Maintain records of student attendance and clinical rotation schedules
Maintain and submit records required for clinical placement, including, but not limited to, immunization records, physical examinations, drug screens, and related requirements
Maintain proficiency in curriculum development, program support, classroom and clinical instruction, program and individual evaluation, and student advising
Attend faculty, School, University, and Joint Advisory Committee meetings
Attend clinical educators' workshops, seminars, and conferences to remain current in imaging techniques, educational methodology, and JRCERT Standards
Provide pertinent information to the Program Director and clinical instructors regarding instructional methodologies and strategies to integrate didactic and clinical learning
Meet regularly with the Program Director
Schedule meetings with clinical instructors, both individually and jointly
Assist the Program Director with overall program effectiveness
Serve on appointed committees within the program, School, and University as specified by the Program Director or Dean
Participate in continuing education and attend district, state, and/or national professional organization meetings
Assist instructors with laboratory simulations and laboratory testing
Exemplify high standards and support the goals of the sponsoring institution and the profession
Consistently strive to set a positive example for the program, the sponsoring institution, the community, the students, and the graduates of the program
Participate in recruitment activities for the program
Participate in the JRCERT accreditation process
Participate in program assessment and analysis to enhance program effectiveness.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director or University Administration
Qualifications:
The sponsoring institution, The University of Charleston, employs the Clinical Coordinator as a full-time, on-site faculty member to coordinate clinical education for the program. The minimum qualifications for the Clinical Coordinator are as follows:
